BB Cream vs. CC Cream: Do You Know The Difference?

Garnier-BB-CreamBB and CC creams for skin is one of the biggest beauty trends today. Choosing between the two can be confusing if you don’t know what they are all about. So, we are going to break it down for you to make life a bit easier. First, let’s look at BB Creams.

The initials stand for ‘Beauty Balm’. These are multi-tasking products having more than one benefit in one. They are a combination of tinted moisturisers, light foundation, primers, sunscreens and often anti-ageing creams. BB Creams provide long-lasting hydration, even coverage and protection for skin. However, they don’t have enough power to use alone as sunscreens or moisturisers.

The initials stand for ‘Colour Corrective’ and contain properties for skin brightening primer, light foundation, moisturiser, sunscreen, anti-aging ingredients and sometimes collagen boosters. These are more lightweight and fast-absorbing. CC Creams normally have light-diffusing particles which even skin tone. Some often contain anti-oxidant properties. These too are supplements and inadequate to use alone for sun protection or moisturising.

BB Creams tend to be slightly thicker and best-suited for dry skin, and the focus is more on prevention and maintenance. So if you want to prevent future skin issues and damage and want to maintain healthy-looking skin, BB Creams are better contenders. CC Creams tend to be lighter than BBs. They are more suited for acne-prone skin, and focus on concealing existing skin issues.

BB and CC creams are secondary to proper foundations and they don’t come in many shades. But, they are ideal for casual daily use and especially, if you are in a hurry. You can lightly dab the cream of your choice all over your face including eye lids and skip powder completely. On your trips to the gym or when you want a no-makeup look, BB and CC creams are the best!
